Killing Leuk: A Story of the Courageous Journey of Faith of a Mother and Son Who Both Battled Leukemia

Kelly fights with everything she has to finally kill "Leuk," a shortened form of the name of her ruthless disease.

Killing Leuk reopens wounds not quite healed in order to help others who may be experiencing the same sorrow. Survival through the anguish of illness and loss may seem impossible, but Kelly Marre compassionately shares her own story to provide you with a light of hope amid darkness.

Kelly Marre holds both an associate and bachelor degree in human services from the University of Alaska. Marre has received numerous volunteer awards including: the 2003 Greater Wasilla Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year award and the 2001 Volunteer Service Award for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. She was nominated twice for the Governor’s First Lady Volunteer Award.

Marre most recently worked as an adult probation officer. Prior to being a PO, she worked as an advocate and crisis intervention coordinator for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Originally from Indiana, Marre moved to Wasilla, Alaska in 1983. She is married to her husband, Patrick. Together they have: Logan, Casey, Meghan, daughter-in-law, Kelsey, and son-in-law, Kirk, as well as two adored granddaughters, Olivienne and Ailynn.
