The Truth About Lying

New Plays Selection 2012, commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival The Truth About Lying is part of the Hong Kong New Plays Selection series, a bilingual collection of theater works representing the best of contemporary Hong Kong drama. The Truth About Lying won Best Script Award at the 2011 Hong Kong Drama Awards. The play is a penetrating examination of marriage break-ups by one of Hong Kong’s most talented young actress/playwrights, Wong Wing-sze. The award-winning play follows Emily, as she joins a small legal firm specializing in divorce law. The firm’s two partners are a husband and wife duo, and Emily proceeds to begin an affair with one as her relations deteriorate with the other. Playwright Wong’s sharp, insightful look at this complex situation is both profound and thought-provoking.

In addition to her Best Script Award, Wong Wing-sze has also been named Best Actress at the Hong Kong Drama Awards. Her script for the acclaimed film Beyond Our Ken won the award for Best Film Script at Hong Kong’s Golden Bauhinia Awards.
