Chris's Story: A Family Voting Secret Revealed is a story about a 10 year old little black boy's quest to learn how the president of the United States of America is elected, and how his quest influenced everyone in his family, especially his younger brother. The interest is sparked when Chris and his father take a trip to town to purchase needed supplies for their family's farm. Chris happened to come upon a man in front of the town's library asking the town's people to vote for his candidate. When Chris asked his father about the man, his father claimed that he did not observe the man. Chris's father used the excuse that he was in a great hurry to buy their supplies. When Chris returned home with his father and posed the question about the man, the adults did not answer. Even his older sister ignored him. The adults had a family voting secret. Thus, the quest began in earnest. Chris decided to ask the one person who would have the information. He asked his teacher. He knew she would help him with his quest. On Monday when Chris got to school, he asked his teacher about the man who was in town talking about voting. His teacher explained who the man was and what he was doing in town that day. Well, one question led to another, and another, and another until the teacher, over a period of thirty days, had outlined the entire election process. Yes, Chris learned who could vote for the president, who could run for president and how the president was elected. This little boy's quest had ended and in the process he discovered the nature of the family's voting secret.
