Harriet is impressed to learn that the girl she has befriended, now called Annie Smith, is the person who not only created three names-Rosarita Sauvage, Yolanda Montezuma, and Zoe Carpaccio-but also three distinct personalities to match. Maya Gold, like Annie Smith, is a woman of many identities. In some of her other lives, she has been an award-winning screenwriter, novelist, editor, and occasional planter of Douglas firs. Louise Fitzhugh (1928-1974) was born in Memphis, Tennessee.
