The Snow Show

In early 2004, in a remote area of Finnish Lapland, one of the most ambitious art and design events in recent history took place. Seventeen collaborations between international artists and architects, the finished works were a triumph of creativity over matter, beauty over ego, hot ideas over arctic materials. Pieces ranged from room-sized cylindrical ice-block lanterns to an amphitheater made from snow. The exhibition was one of the most fascinating events of the year and it was only the beginning. Traveling and expanding in size and planned as a centerpiece of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, ＂The Snow Show＂ will continue to delight visitors from around the world. With exquisite photography, detailed plans and sketches, and project descriptions written by the artists and architects, this book is a celebration of overcoming nature’s harshest conditions with elegance and beauty.
