　　This book is a study of the major events and publications in the world of translation in China and the West from its beginning in the legendary period to 2004, with special reference to works published in Chinese and English. It covers a total of 72 countries / places and 1,000 works. All the events and activities in the field have been grouped into 24 areas or categories for easy referencing. 作者簡介

　　CHAN SIN-WAI is professor of the Department of Translation at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests are computer translation and bilingual lexicography. He has written numerous books and articles on these topics, which include Longman Dictionary of English Language and Culture (Bilingual Edition) (2003), A Dictionary of Translation Technology (2004), and A Topical Bibliography of Computer(-aided) Translation (2008).
